Sending out big congratulations to our own Shelbi Barnhouse, first for being named (once again) to the elite list of Texas Rising Stars and, second, for the impending birth of her daughter, who is due any minute now. We can’t wait to meet the newest member of her family.

Shelbi joined Amy Stewart Law two-and-a-half years ago after spending more than 11 years at Carrington, Coleman, Sloman & Blumenthal, one of Dallas’ most prestigious law firms. Shelbi now uses her big-firm training and pedigree to achieve exceptional results for our policyholder clients.

A complex commercial litigator, Shelbi knows her way around the courtroom – and everything leading up to it. She was a member of former Enron CEO Ken Lay’s legal team in the litigation following that company’s collapse, and has represented a wide variety of major corporations, law firms, and others in a wide spectrum of commercial disputes.

She also believes in giving back, having served as pro bono counsel in a number of family law-related matters, including adoption, divorce, custody and child support matters. She has also served in a variety of leadership positions in philanthropic organizations such as Attorneys Serving the Community, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.

To be eligible for Rising Stars, which is published by Thomson Reuters’ legal division, a candidate must be either 40 or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. No more than 2.5 percent of Texas lawyers are selected to Rising Stars, which conducts a statewide survey of lawyers to select its list of the state’s most highly regarded young lawyers. The complete list is featured in the April issue of Texas Monthly magazine and at

We’re proud every day that Shelbi calls Amy Stewart Law home, but today is an especially nice day to have her with us.
