Attorneys Serving the Community is hosting the Heart & Sole 5K on Saturday, Feb. 16 at White Rock Lake. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Hope’s Door, a shelter and counseling center that offers comprehensive programs and services designed to help break the cycle of domestic violence for women in Dallas and Collin counties.

There’s never been a more important time to support organizations like Hope’s Door, given the number of high-profile domestic violence incidents we’ve experienced locally, nationally and internationally. In fact, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings has made addressing domestic violence a priority for his administration.

Last year, Attorneys Serving the Community selected Hope’s Door as its 2013 beneficiary. The Heart & Sole 5K is the first of two fundraising events ASC is holding, with the second one being the 27th annual luncheon on June 14 at the Hilton Anatole. Amy Elizabeth Stewart and Dena DeNooyer Stroh, General Counsel of Murchison Oil & Gas, Inc., are the organization's 2012-13 co-chairs.

Attorneys Serving the Community is a Dallas group of women lawyers who support local nonprofit organizations whose programs benefit women, children and families.

If you’re interested in taking part in the Heart & Sole 5K, registration is $25 before Feb. 2 and $35 after that. There will be breakfast from La Madeleine, a kids’ area with a bounce house and face painters, and post-race entertainment by Black Dirt Tango.
